Welcome to the Meon Valley Bowen Therapy Web site

My name is Rachel Evans and I am a Bowen therapist. My aim is to make people aware of the Bowen Technique, and to try to help as many people as possible by using Bowen to help with injuries, ailments or other problems they may have. In addition, having recently achieved my goal of qualifying as an Equine Bowen Practitioner, a major aim for me is to make the world a better place for the horse, both for the serious competition animals right down to the 'happy hackers'.

I was born in Portsmouth in 1975 and I have lived and worked in this area for pretty much the whole of my life. I left school after my A-levels and fell into a job with an Insurance company in Southampton when my gap year plans changed. I spent 7 years dealing with Insurance claims before moving on to become a fraud Investigator. After 2 years in this job I finally decided that an office based career was not for me and I left to pursue a career within the equestrian industry.

Horses are my passion - I own three - and I packed up and moved with one of them to Warminster to work in an eventing yard. I put my house out to rent and walked away from my entire south coast life, my friends and my other horses. I stayed at Warminster for 4 months before a repetitive back problem became too much for me and I was forced to quit.

Despondent, and in a lot of pain, I moved home and tried to sort my life, and my back pain out with several visits to chiropractors, physiotherapists and osteopaths. It was then that I literally stumbled upon The Bowen Technique. What I had not realised was that my back pain was caused by an old knee injury which was effectively unbalancing me and causing the back strain.

One session of Bowen therapy completely removed the knee pain, and subsequently the back problem completely resolved, along with other, minor issues that I also had.

I started my training for the Bowen Technique in November 2003 and qualified in August 2004. I am also a fully qualified Equine Bowen Technique Practitioner having qualified to treat horses in February 2005.

Now, I simply want as many people and equines as possible to benefit from this amazing technique, and to have their lives transformed as mine has.
