 Training and Courses

During my training and time as a Bowen Therapist I have been fortunate enough to attend some very good courses and lectures to further improve my skills.

Listed below are the courses I have already undertaken in addition to the specific training for my Equine and Human Bowen qualification and the required courses run by the College for practitioners.

Part of the requirement as a registered Practitioner is to continue to develop and attend courses; something I feel passionate about anyway in order to provide the best service and education to my clients as possible. The list won't stop here as I am a 'learn-a-holic'!

  • Diploma in Human Anatomy Studies
  • Study course at the 'Bodies' exhibition, London viewing dissected human specimens
  • Dan Guererra 'Barehoof' equine podiatry course covering the structure and function of the equine hoof and lower limb, foot balance, shoeing, structural problems, hoof disease, and including a lower limb and hoof dissection. For more info see Dan's website www.barehoof.com
  • Saddle fitting and pressure pad testing day thanks to Llwynon Saddlery covering aspects of static and dynamic saddle fitting and use of a pressure pad to test for pressure points and computerized assimilation of this data
  • Equine Bodyworking 1 day course with Equinenergy including study of a live horse both statically and dynamically and working with an anatomical artist; gait analysis and structural irregularities and their effect on the horse's movement
  • 'Vets and farriers' day - working with several farriers and Vets specifically addressing how foot balance relates to and can cause problems with the horse's structure and soundness; remedial shoeing and foot mapping
  • 5 day Equine Biomechanics and Gait Analysis course with Dr Hilary Clayton, a world leader in equine Biomechanics, plus an equine gait analysis and biomechanics project which was assessed and passed by Dr Clayton.
  • Two live cadaver studies carried out at St Georges Hospital looking at structure and function within the head, neck and TMJ (jaw) area; and a pelvic dissection. Both were hands on and highly informative, bringing the body to life, and allowing me to work with a much deeper understanding
  • 3 months of study at the Pat Parelli International Study Center in Florida in addition to the 3 months I already did in 2007 and 2008 at the Pat Parelli School in Colorado. I am now a qualified Parelli Instructor!
